FAQ

The questions people actually ask us, with straight answers. If yours is not here, call 0435 370 522 or message us on WhatsApp — you will get one of us, not a call centre.

Booking

How do I book?

Pick the size you need on Carts & Pricing, choose your flavours, and you will see the price before you talk to anyone. If your event does not fit one of the five sizes, use Request a quote and we'll build it for you!

How far ahead should I book?

As early as you can. We fill up fast in spring and summer, and weekends go first. If your date is close, ask anyway — cancellations happen.

Do I have to pay a deposit?

Yes. We confirm your booking and hold the date once we receive 40% of the total. Until then the date is not held: we do not keep provisional bookings, because it would mean turning away someone who is ready to confirm.

What if I need to cancel?

Cancel more than 60 days before the event and we return the deposit less a $150 administration fee. Closer than that, the deposit is not refundable — by then we have turned other work away for your date.

Can I move the date?

Once, free of charge. We would rather move your event than lose it.

On the day

How long before the event do you arrive?

Between 1.5 and 2 hours before your event starts. Setting up properly is what makes the difference between a cart that is there and a cart that looks like it belongs. If you need it in place several hours ahead — a ceremony, a venue with a tight access window — that is an early setup, and it has its own price.

What if there is no power where we are?

The Cube needs no mains power at all. The larger carts do, and if there is none on site we bring our own power pack — you will see it as a separate line before you book, never as a surprise on the day.

How much space do you need?

Less than you would think, and the Cube is designed for indoors — a hallway, a foyer, a shop floor. Tell us the room and we will tell you straight whether it works.

How long do you serve for?

Between one and three hours, depending on the size you choose — each package shows its own, and you see it before you book. We do not stand there counting the minutes at the end: what matters to us is that your guests are happy. If you already know you need longer, extra time has a published price and you can add it while you build your quote.

The gelato

Is it really unlimited?

Yes, and it means what it says: there are no tokens, no tickets, nobody counting cups. Your guests come back as many times as they like for as long as we are serving.

Can we taste before we decide?

Yes. Choosing flavours for a hundred people from a list is hard, so we would rather sit down with you and let you try them. Ask us when you enquire.

Do you have dairy-free options?

Our sorbets are made with fruit and no milk, and there are nine of them on the list. They are marked on every flavour so you do not have to guess.

We have guests with allergies. Is your gelato safe for them?

We follow a strict protocol against cross-contamination, and we will tell you exactly what is in every flavour we bring. But we make gelato in one lab, with milk, nuts, eggs, gluten and soy all present — so we cannot guarantee any flavour is free of traces. If someone in your party reacts severely, the honest advice is that they should not eat gelato from our cart. We would rather say that than reassure you and be wrong.

Can you make a flavour for our event?

We can, and it is one of the things people remember: flavours created and named around your theme, your places, your evening. It needs about four weeks. Ask us what is possible.

Prices

What is included in the price?

The cart, the gelato, the staff serving it, the cups, cones and spoons, and delivery and pickup inside the Melbourne Metro map. Each package lists exactly what comes with it.

What is not included?

Travel outside the Melbourne Metro map, extra service time, an early setup, and public holidays. Every one of them has a price written down — you will see the total before you book, not after.

Do you travel outside Melbourne?

Yes, across regional Victoria. Inside the Metro map travel is included; beyond it there is a fixed fee for each area, and for anywhere we have not priced yet we will work it out with you rather than guess.

I have seen cheaper. Why?

Because what is in the tub is not the same. Gourmet gelato is made with real pistachio, real hazelnut, real fruit, and those cost several times what industrial pastes cost. We do not take that shortcut. What we did do is build a smaller format — the Cube — so that a party with a modest budget can still have the real thing rather than a cheaper imitation of it.

Classes

What are the gelato classes?

Three of them: a hands-on class for children at a party, a class for schools priced per child, and a live demonstration for adult audiences at corporate events. They are on Classes.

Can a school book several classes in one day?

That is usually how it works — several groups, one after the other, fitted around the timetable. It is also why school bookings are arranged by talking rather than by clicking.

Do the children actually make the gelato?

They weigh it, mix it and churn it themselves, and take home a certificate. What they make is a natural lemon sorbet — gluten free and dairy free — so it suits everyone in the group.

What do you need from the venue for a class?

Access to power. The machine the children use runs on mains, and unlike our carts a class cannot be run off a battery pack — so a power point within reach is the one thing we cannot work around. Everything else we bring.
